History

  • 1933: Mario Remondini, an economics and chemistry graduate, fails to find a job after completing an internship at Eridania and asks for a loan from his mother;
  • 1934: the Remondini, Queirolo and Barabino families acquire the shipping business of Luigi Vaggi founded by Marcello Vaggi;
  • 1959: Marcevaggi celebrates 25 years in business with 80 staff and a fleet of vehicles designed to carry petroleum and chemical products;
  • 1974: Marcevaggi acquires a majority of Star Trasporti Internazionali, its competitor in cross-border transport;
  • 1984: the handover to the second generation: Emanuele Remondini becomes Chairman of Marcevaggi;
  • 1990: Chairman Emanuele Remondini launches the company abroad by opening offices and joint ventures in Belgium, Holland, Germany, France, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, and starts looking at Middle Eastern markets;
  • 1999: the company takes the form of a group of 3 operational companies each dedicated to a specialist activity: Levorato Marcevaggi, a joint venture between the petroleum branch of Marcevaggi and our competitor Levorato Autotrasporti; Star, specialising in chemicals and special waste; Star Mediterranea, maritime container logistics;
  • 2010: the third generation takes the helm of the Star Group;
  • 2011: Levorato Marcevaggi enters the aviation sector, investing in storage and transport of aviation fuels at major Italian airports;
  • 2012: Star invests in transport of special waste bulk solids in partnership with Horst Weiss;
  • 2014: the Marcevaggi Group celebrates its 80th birthday with our first corporate video ;
  • 2016: Pir Group (Italian leader in maritime storage of bulk products) and Star team up to develop integrated logistics for the transport and storage of chemicals;
  • 2017: Levorato Marcevaggi enters the aviation market outside Italy with the acquisition of storage facility in Prague;
